Activities

Social care plays a major role in the quality of life for our residents and we recognise the importance of providing a wide range of entertainment and activities for them to choose from.  This encourages stimulation and independence and also helps residents to meet new friends and develop new hobbies and interests.  Residents are encouraged to take part, but individual preferences and choice is always respected.

With the help of a dedicated Activities Coordinator in each of our homes, a wide and varied selection of activities are made available to all our residents on a weekly basis which can include craft clubs, flower arranging, armchair exercises, entertainers, outside speaker, shopping trips, walks on the sea front or just a trip to the local tea shop in AbbeyCare's Minibus.  Some residents may prefer to have a one to one activity where our carers are available to read books or letters to them or just simply spend time chatting and reminiscing. Whenever possible, we make good use of our gardens in the summer months.

As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, regular discussions are held with our residents to review the activity structure and develop new ideas.

For those residents who wish to take part there is a weekly christian service as well as monthly communion.
